ooc: tell me if I'm doing this right?
Carla Adams coughed on the dust blowing in the wind. After a long day of riding, she was ready to call it quits. Taking a swig of water, she urged her gelding, Boomer, to continue. He was just as exhausted as she was. According to the map that she had tucked into her saddlebags, a town was coming up ahead. And where there was a town, there was usually food and drink. Only moments later, she was proved right. The small town of Cahone was quiet this evening, but it was easy enough to identify the saloon. 'Crazy Wolf', she read. Interesting. She tied Boomer in front, gave his neck a pat, and walked in. The town must've been even smaller than she originally thought. The saloon was deserted, and everything was silent. She walked over to the bar and nodded to the bartender. "Evening," she said quietly. "You happen to have some food here I? Just came into town..." she glanced around at the empty saloon. "thought this would be my best bet. The man didn't give her much to go on, just went in back and gave her a plate of food. She took it, grateful for the meal, and paid him. He gave her a nod, then headed back into the kitchen. She ate quietly, wondering where everyone was in the town.
ooc: again, help me out. i haven't RP in over a year, so I'm rusty. Let me know!

Robert Collins offered his mount Pepper some water outside of the saloon and then tied him to a post next to another horse. His boots made a hollow echoed noise on the wooden pathway in front of the Crazy Wolf.
As the doors swung closed behind him and his eyes adjusted to the darkness he saw a lone girl sitting at the bar. He took a seat a couple stools down from he and offered as warm a smile as he could. It more or less came across as a smirk, but what could you expect from him? He tipped his hat and said "Afternoon miss." . As the bartender came back out Collins reminded him of his usual drink of a glass of whiskey and smiled again as he took a sip.

Carla looked over at the man. Generally, she wasn't quick to trust new people, and his smirk did nothing for her. "Actually," she said, somewhat coldly, "it's more like evening now, isn't it?" She nodded at the bartender and he allowed her whiskey like the man sitting with her. "Now, I'm new in town, so could you tell me where I could find a room for the night and stables for my horse?" she asked. From what she saw of the town, she liked, and staying the night and the next day would help her decide if she wanted to stay here or keep going. Not to mention that this seemed to be a nice town where she could stay out of trouble.

Collins sipped at his whiskey again finishing the glass. He set it down and slid it to the bartender and waited for another glass before answering the girl. She was tough and he could completely understood that kind of attitude but it didn't mean he liked it.
"I do believe that there are a few rooms up stairs."as he pointed this out he raised his eyes and his glass to the ceiling. "There is a stable down the way also that may take your horse. Better hurry though, looks like it may be past your bedtime." Before lowering his glass he of course took a sip then turned to the bartender.
"Hey Joe ((OOC: no one is the bartender hope no one cares I made that up) I need some help around the ranch. If anyone comes through who isn't afraid of some tough work and tougher riding, let 'em know I'm lookin will ya?".

Clenching her jaw, Carla nodded, then slid a few more coins to the bartender. "Thanks for being so concerned about my sleep- but I'm perfectly fine." She turned to leave, then threw over her shoulder, "Maybe I'll see you in the morning then, stranger." She left, not bothering to wait for his response, and hand-walked Boomer down to the stables. Clearly the long day had gone to her head- it was pretty obvious that this was a place to board your horse. But idiocy aside, she ventured in and secured a stall for Boomer. Leaving him to munch on hay, she returned to the saloon, not sure what she would find inside.

Collins chuckled, and said loud enough she could surely hear"Little fiesty ain't she?". He finished his glass of whiskey and paid the bartender. "I'm gonna post a little sign on the door, 'case you forget to mention the job opening." In his scratchy writing Collins wrote that the Red Bronc Ranch needed some hands and pegged it to the saloon door with an old dart he found on the wall.
On his way out the doors Collins clucked to Pepper who immediately woke up and unthingyed his back foot. "Let's go boy, before the ghosts in this town come out."He squeezed his legs around the gelding and headed back to his ranch for some sleep.

Inside, the bar was even quieter than before. The man had taken off, and the bartender was nowhere to be found. On the bar was a note, telling her to take one of the empty rooms upstairs. Clearly, the bartender heard more than he let on. Shrugging, she climbed up the stairs, went into a room, and found it to be empty. Good enough for me, she thought. Crawling under the covers, she fell asleep quickly. ooc: that's all for me tonight. it's 12:30 here, so nighty night!
