Physical Description:
Remy is very slim and slight of build and not very tall for his age. He has his muscles, of course, but they are lean and not easily noticed. Both his frame and limbs are rather long and lanky. Combined with his shaggy golden hair, it gives him somewhat of a distinctly leonine appearance. He has fair skin, but after having spent so many years out in the sunlight, he has received a light farmer's tan. For the most part, his skin is still relatively smooth and has yet to become hardened by a physically active lifestyle, and he has not yet managed to grow much of a beard. His hands, however, are a different story. They are callused and rough, with unusually long, spidery-like fingers.
His face is round and boyish, with a prominent chin and a thin nose placed squarely in the center. He has full, feminine lips and sea-shell ears. His eyes are wide and almond-shaped, and a very dark gray in color. Those eyes change colors occasionally, depending on the color of the clothes that he's wearing the most prominent colors of his surroundings. They often become a dark blue or violet, and sometimes a greenish hazel color. His brows are dark and thick, but not bushy. They give him a sort of serious expression. His hair is wispy and wavy, and a dark blonde hue. He sometimes lets it grow to about chin-length, at which time it becomes quite shaggy and unkempt, falling in casual disarray into his face. But he never keeps it any longer than that.
His clothing style is simple. His outfits usually consist of plain white button down shirts, or plaid flannel shirts if their available. When working, he wears his newly acquired denim jeans and, at other times, he wears his slacks with overalls. He can almost always be found in his work boots and hat, unless he is attending a formal affair, which does not happen very often at all.
Personality:
Remy, ever the maverick and a laughing trickster, is a trouble-maker and a hopeless flirt. He is a ladies' man, an Oscar Wildean fantasy, the most bold and disregarding dusty vagabond on occasion, loner, wanderer, heartbreaker, and wise guy. You'll either love him or hate him, there is no in between. He is maddening and fascinating and intolerably annoying. He is a man of action and is as adventurous as a young boy of eighteen can be. He likes to talk to just about anyone who will stand still long enough, and loves to trade stories with either strangers or close friends. Learning whatever there is to learn is a favorite hobby of his, as he is a very inquisitive sort of person, but he can also get to talking and rambling quite a lot if you let him.
When he goes off like that, many may find him boring, or immature. He is more than a little childish, and is viewed by many as an innocent, though he is a little selfish and vain. Remy is the sort of person who feels that he has to be good at whatever he does. He will quickly attempt to master whatever subject or trade you can throw at him, and strive to be the very best. He's definitely a type A personality. He cares only for things that are of practical use to him and, though he is quite imaginative, he feels that filling his head with information about things that don't directly effect him is a useless waste of time. He has no deep-rooted beliefs or superstitions about anything, and believes that that makes him stronger.
He knows full well that he is charming and witty, charismatic, and intelligent. He's friendly and outgoing and loves to talk to new people. He loves to fall in love probably more than anything else, and can see how just about anybody as beautiful. He's a devilish little imp, through and through, with an anarchist spirit. He'll say that he doesn't cause trouble, that it just finds him, but.... It would be a lie to say that he didn't enjoy it. He's always doing whatever it takes to get attention. Many people view him as arrogant and obnoxious, and others find it endearing.
He has always had a sharp tongue, and has never failed to make his opinions on things crystal clear. It is widely believed that he is genuinely unafraid of everything, though he would probably disagree. Though he has a bit of a short fuse and can be somewhat stubborn, he he has a strong sense of right and wrong. His conscience keeps him from causing any real harm to anyone. Either way, he thinks a lot of himself.
Past:
Remy was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents were extremely poor, and raised their family on a small plantation that they ran on their own. They couldn't afford to hire any sharecroppers, so much of the small patch of land they owned quickly became overgrown. They supported themselves mostly by fishing in the river, for both fish and crawdads, as well as growing a small vegetable garden. Remy was the youngest of seven children. All throughout his childhood, he and his older siblings ran wild through the streets of New Orleans and in the neighboring bayous. They romped with the other children and established quite a name for themselves, especially Remy. He spent his lazy days fishing at the river, flirting with little girls, and getting into trouble.
Remy always caused quite a bit more trouble than his brothers. Though his parents were devout Catholics and brought their children to mass every week, trying to instill their strong religious beliefs in their children, it did little good with the youngest one. He remained as rambunctious as ever, well into his teen years. When he was about fourteen, a troupe of actors passed through town and Remy was immediately enthralled. He went backstage after their performance to talk with the performers. They allowed him to stay on and perform with them and it was one of the happiest moments of his childhood. He spent the night in one of their wagons and planned on leaving with them the next day when they moved on. But when he woke in the morning, they were all gone and he was sleeping in a street, with his oldest brother shouting over him to return home, where he would surely be punished.
His mother was the only one who took pity on him. That's the way it always was. She seemed to find his ridiculous antics highly amusing, though it annoyed, her husband greatly. Though Remy never realized it, his mother sympathized with him because he reminded him of a male version of herself, when none of her other children did. One night, in the hopes of getting Remy to behave, the local priest suggested to his mother that he be sent to a monastery. Remy enthusiastically agreed to go. He wanted to learn how to read and write. But because his family was poor, they could not really afford for Remy to remain in school. His father was furious and immediately sent for him to return home. He never really did forgive his father for that.
But his mother took pity on him yet again. When he was nearly grown, she took him aside and placed in his hand one of her priceless rings. It was a family heirloom, and likely worth a lot. She bade him to sell it and use the money to buy a horse and leave the city. She had grown very ill with dysentery, and wanted to know that her favorite son would be away and happy before she died. Remy hesitantly obliged to his mother's request, though he was terrified, and wound up purchasing a minuscule house in Cahone, Colorado, where he hoped to learn a trade and provide for himself. His mother has not yet passed away, and has promised to visit him before she does.
