Name: Rosealye "Rose" Thomas Marshall ((Ro-ZAH-lie))
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Heritage: English; she is very proud of it too.
Job Position: School Teacher; her very first job.
Physical Description:
[li]Hair: Bright red, and full of wild curls. Every morning she pulls it up into a bun, taming the ringlets the best she can; a proper lady never wears her down in public after all.
[/li][li]Eyes: Large, and golden brown in color. She is able to gaze at someone or something without blinking for long periods, which is more eerie than impressive. As she is an avid people watcher, this "talent" is put to work quite often, much to the misfortune of those who catch her watching them.
[/li][li]Face: Her face is what one might call "elegant" with high cheek bones, straight nose, and sharp chin. Her eyes are shadowed by thick--not bushy--eyebrows with a curved arch.
[/li][li]Body: Thick, but not fat; she is full bodied, not quite an hourglass figure due to her not-so-thin waist. She doesn't mind it though, rather enjoying her waist size; she doesn't want to worry about silly things like corsets. She is not frail by any means, and has the natural strength to do physical labor, though she has had few chances to use it.
[/li][li]Skin: Pale, though a bit of a tan is beginning to show through. She grew up in luxury, so it has been hard for her skin to adjust to the very different living conditions.
[/li][li]Height: 5'6"
[/li][li]Scent: She smells of soap and sea salt; she has a small stash of it, which she rubs on her hands once a day.
[/li][li]Attire: She wears simple, modest clothes that have little color in them; a bit of yellow or blue at most. She makes sure she is well dressed everyday, but not in a showy way. The only jewelry she wears is a gold band around her ring finger, and a pair of pearl earrings, both given to her by her late husband.

[/u]
[li]In public, she is calm and polite, if not cold. Though she is able to make small talk, she will usually do her best to hurry away from any conversation she gets into; small talk usually leads to deeper things. Things such as, "How are you?" or "So, tell me about yourself."
[/li][li]If somehow she manages to become interested enough in a person, she will open up a little, showing that she actually does have a personality. And it's one that enjoys playful banter. She is also rather stubborn, and once she gets an idea in her head, she must follow through with it. Besides that though, she is an extremely passionate woman who's ability to hide her sea of emotions is nearly flawless. Being brought up in the strict, English aristocracy, she was taught that her emotions were not to be shared. She has taken this to heart, though she constantly struggles with her inner self as it tries to come out.
[/li][li]And beneath all of that, is a kind hearted young woman who is sadder but wiser from her life experiences. In most cases, she will help someone in need, though she will leave as soon as her assistance is no longer needed. Rose usually comes off as cold, distant, and maybe even rude. But with patience, a person can get past that to see the real Rose...assuming they don't make her mad. In which case she can think up insults that you didn't even know were insults! And she doesn't usually get violent...but she's got a lot of pint up emotion, so you never know.[/li][/ul]

Past:
- Was born second out of four being the only girl. She was doted upon and special care was given to ensure that she would grow up to be a perfect English lady. But, growing up with three brothers affected her too, and she often wondered why she wasn't allowed to do everything her brothers were. This realization that she was being treated differently because of her gender would forever change her, even if it didn't show outwardly.
- At the tender age of sixteen she was married to the young duke, Andrew Marshall. He was twenty-one, and a man with stars in his eyes, always dreaming of the next big event in his life. He was head over heels for the young red-head, and did everything a husband should. Still, Rose did not love him. Not from lack of trying, mind you, as she did everything she could to find that spark called "love" between her and her husband. He was a good, honorable man, even if he did have his head in the clouds. After two years, though, she came to terms with the fact that she would never feel love for Andrew. Instead, she worked simply on being the best wife to him as possible, to make up for, what she believed, was her own misgivings.
- When she was eighteen and he was twenty-two, Andrew got this crazy idea that he wanted to earn his own money, and provide for Rose on his own. So, they packed up, and headed over to America...much to Rose's discontentment. She did not want to leave her home, but feeling obligated to follow her husband, she did not argue, though it broke her heart. When they arrived, they bought a ranch, and after some time, she became content with their new life. In fact, this is where she began to feel the spark she had tried so hard to search for earlier...but it was not with her husband. Horrified at these feelings she was having for one of the hired help, she did her best to bury it deep inside her heart. He was charming, handsome, kind, and knew how to take her teasing; being around him was sweet torture. The poor girl just didn't know what to do with herself. Just before Andrew scooped them up and moved them to Colorado, to some land he was told had much oil/gold, her feelings had intensified so that it was unbearable. So this particular move was one that brought Rose much relief as well as heartache.
- He had spent all of their fortune on this, so sure was he that this would be their ticket to money...which made no sense to Rose, but she once again remained silent.
- In this time, she did become pregnant, and the two started to excitedly prepare for a new member of their family. However, a few months in, she had a miscarriage. Sinking into depression, Rose felt more distant from her husband than ever before. The next few years saw the decline of the Marshall's lives, as the land they had bought proved to be useless. Finally coming to terms with this, Andrew endeavored to find a job in the closet town, a place called Cahone. Tragically, on his way there, he was attacked and murdered by bandits; his newly widowed wife did not know for nearly two weeks.
- After learning of her husband's demise, Rose had mixed feelings; her sole companion of nearly eight years was gone, which meant she was all alone in a foreign country with no money...yet she felt a sense of freedom start to bubble up within her. Now that he was gone, she could go where she pleased, and not have to follow after him anymore. But she buried those feelings, guilt ridden that she would even think such things. Still, she could not mourn alone in their house forever. So, gathering her few belongings, Rose headed off towards Cohone, unsure if the future ahead of her is hopeful...or hopeless.
