In order to apply for one of the canon characters, post in this thread who you intend to try out for and create an application for him or her using what few details I’ve put in and adding your own ‘personal touch’ to them. The applications should be fairly detailed and show that you have a good grasp of who this person/horse is. Post the application in the usual character application area and Sojo will accept or comment on what she feels ought to be tweaked. Each member may apply for up to two canons at a time.
Once a character has been taken, a strike will be run through the name and the member playing that character will have their name placed beside it. If a character becomes available to anyone once more, Sojo will remove the strike and notify any interested members.
Another note: I have pictures available for all of the horses. If you’d like to see them, message me.
Robert Collins (played by misszeke)
>> Something of a recluse, Collins owns one of the two main ranches. He has remained something of a mysterious figure, even for the riders who work for him every day. Robert takes an immense amount of pride in his fine horses and goes to great lengths to breed and attain champion racers... even becoming jealous and immoral at times. He is known for being good with horses. A horse bought from the Collins ranch is a horse that will serve its master loyally and effectively throughout its life, provided it is treated well. He is 31 years old and unmarried.
Elizabeth “Elle” Emerson (played by Beth)
>> She and her father (Old Tom) own one of the two main ranches. She has assumed the majority of the responsibility for running the ranch, as her father is getting old and is unable to do much. She takes her responsibilities very seriously. She has been under a great deal of pressure to marry, and the ranch riders are fiercely protective of her (particularly the foreman, Matt Sabre). She loves to sing, hum, and whistle any little tune, often doing so without conscious thought. Her father and her most trusted friends call her by Elle for short. She is 22 years old and unmarried.
Thomas “Old Tom” Emerson
>> He was formerly the sheriff of Cahone, but after suffering a severe gunshot wound and acute arthritis, he has retired and Jake Colburn has taken on the position. He sometimes becomes frustrated with his growing handicaps, leaving the majority of the ranch responsibilities up to his daughter and the riders. The town is very fond of him and the work he has done for them, calling him Old Tom. He is 57 years old and married.
Edan O’Rourke
>> He is the red-haired Irish man of the town, his parents having immigrated to the United States with their son and moved west with their young son. Despite innumerous difficulties, Edan has established the sole store of the town. His business has begun to prosper, thanks to his hard work and dedication. He is 39 years old and married.
Jeb Stuart
>> The town blacksmith, Jeb is an honest and hardworking man. He is sincere and, though occasionally gruff when tired and hot, is very kind. He is not quite as bulky as those usually among his trade, but he is quite tall and packed with muscle. Jeb is quite skilled as a ferrier as well, shoeing even the most fidgety of horses with no harm done to either of them. He is 26 years old and unmarried.
Matt Sabre (played by attenwood)
>> While sometimes known for being hot-headed and impulsive, Matt is essentially a very trustworthy and honest man. Other men find him an intriguing and passionate leader, which has allowed him to take on the position as the foreman at the Emerson ranch. It is fairly common knowledge that Sabre is sweet on Miss Elizabeth Emerson, but little has come of it thus far. Matt is 25 years old and umarried.
Rev. Charles Whitman (played by leviafan)
>> Rev. Whitman is far from your ordinary holy man. Having lived on the frontier several decades, he is hardened by the hard work of survival. Even so, Rev. Whitman is respected for his deeply insightful speeches. Many of the townspeople look to him for guidance, and he takes his role very seriously. He is 43 years old and married.
The Wives
>> Members may also create the wives of any of the above characters whose status says that they are married (Old Tom Emerson, Edan O’Rourke). These women are encouraged to be strong and fairly independent, but also very supportive of their husband and what he does.
Roman (played by SAPHY)
>> He is the notorious lead stallion of the mustang herd. He is dark bay, very powerfully built, and his pelt is marred with all types of scars and marks. Known for his devilish temper, most cowboys don’t bother with him, more content to capture younger mustangs. He is in his prime, old enough to be very experienced but young enough to hold his own against challengers and predators. He is 10 years old.
Joules
>> He is a fairly young domestic paint with buckskin markings and mismatched eyes. Being very high energy, he is fidgety when tied and still needs some work to become a fully capable and reliable working horse. He’s getting there, though. The colt belongs to Matt Sabre. He is 4 years old.
Valeur (played by misszeke)
>> This horse is one of Robert Collins’ most prized fine-blooded Thoroughbred racer stallions. Solid black and just over sixteen hands, he is very impressive… but until you’ve seen him run you don’t know the half of his magnificence. He is 7 years old.
Glinda (played by likethewind)
>> She is another of Collins’ well-bred Thoroughbred, a striking palomino mare originally born and raised on the east coast before being sold to Collins and brought to his Colorado ranch. Though not quite so fast as Valeur, she is still one of the fleetest horses in the area. Collins hopes to get a few exceptional foals by Valeur out of her. She is 6 years old.
Fleet
>> True to her name, Fleet is one of the few horses who can hold a candle to Collins’ racers. Though smaller than either Valeur or Glinda and colored an ordinary bay, she has amazing heart and conformation to die for. Fleet is Elizabeth Emerson’s main mount, and the two are nearly inseparable. Elizabeth hopes to negotiate some agreement between herself and Robert Collins to have Valeur sire a foal out of Fleet, but Collins is a jealous man when it comes to horses and does not want to risk seeing a foal with Fleet’s heart and Valeur’s speed outrun his own racers. She is 7 years old.
Blaze
>> Formerly a wild mustang, Blaze was captured as a two year old, coveted for her strong build and flaming blood bay pelt. (Roman was her sire.) She has been trained and is coming along nicely as a riding horse, though she can still be quite difficult at times… particularly when it is not her owner (Sheriff Jake Colburn) handling her. She is 5 years old.
